Most high school students think they are ready for college until they start. In high school, you have teachers who make you do your homework and parents who make you study. In college comes freedom. Most freshmen are given this freedom for the first time and are not able to handle it. They are used to teachers reminding them of upcoming assignments and exams they need to study for. In college, you are responsible for doing your work. Your professor will notify you at the beginning of the semester of assignments but will not continue to remind you of them. This is your job and most responsible freshmen are not prepared for this responsibility. Additionally, most freshmen have house rules that they must follow, such as what time they must be home on school nights and that they must do their homework before going out. . But in college, your parents aren't there to make you do what you need to do. Due to lack of preparation for college, most freshmen fail classes and drop out. They feel like it's too hard for them, but that's only because they're not prepared. But the few freshmen who take the next chapter of their college careers face other challenges that push them to drop out, like family issues.
