Essay / 9 11 Essay - 689
On September 11, 2001, terrorists crashed two American airline planes into the Twin Towers, killing thousands of people. This was the worst terrorist attack in American history and showed us that we are not protected by the Atlantic and the Pacific. It showed us that we could be attacked by anyone at any time. It showed us that if we are attacked again, we can only rely on each other and not other nations to help us. The 9/11 attacks changed people forever, some lost family members or friends, others lost their jobs, even the so-called "American dream." The attacks of September 11 united us as one powerful person, capable of rising from the ruins of thousands of pounds of metal. and let us fight so that we are no longer in ruins. In recent videos, Osama bin Laden and his colleagues talk about the power of Islam and the attacks on the Twin Towers. It appears that Osama bin Laden and other radicals are ready for "Jihad" and ready to win. They say Allah is on their side and people around the world want to know more about Islam since the September 11 attacks. A good example is that of John Walker, an American who was with a Taliban soldier when he was captured. He studied Muslim traditions in Pakistan where he joined the Taliban. The other day I was watching "Dennis Miller Live" where I heard Dennis Miller talking about John Walker, he said his parents should give him more than just a spanking. It showed me that even today, almost five months people are still talking about the 9/11 attacks. Our military campaigns in Afghanistan eliminated a regime that supported terrorism and other violent groups. Today, there is no regime in Afghanistan and the country is rebuilding on the ruins of the Soviet war. John Ashcroft, who is now TV's leading man, is probably the only one who takes the problem seriously. He said he wanted to look for people with ties to Alquida and its cells. But some say it's unconstitutional to do that, but in the 1700s, even 1800s, terrorists didn't attack America. This means that our discovering fathers did not have to face the Ottoman Empire or their attacks because we were protected by the oceans. Even in the old days, the Constitution was not a factor allowing some people to do something immoral or illegal..
