Austin HoadleyMr.FredericksEnglish 12 Period 53, April 2014KempoEven though Kempo is a style of martial art that combines the five animals of Shaolin Kung Fu, everyone should join it because it helps people learn self-defense. , improve self-confidence, become physically fit, have mutual respect for others, and it's cheap at most, if not all kempo academies. Kempo teaches self-defense. Self-defense is the defense of one's person or interests through the use of physical force. The art of Kempo is a process of learning a skill through repetition. As noted in the article written by Pamela Knudson, she states “Aug. 05--Watch Casey Mihalek lead the white-clad, barefoot members of his karate class at ATA Martial Arts in Grand Forks and you'll see a well-orchestrated training program with one goal: self-defense infused with discipline and of respect” (Knudson). When you learn techniques such as kicks and blocks from an instructor, you will need practice to develop these skills and the more you practice Kempo, the more it seems like second nature. As noted in the article written by Kristin E. Holmes, she states: "Genell, 46, a security director at a demolition company, operated a karate studio for seven years but decided to concentrate on teaching adaptive martial arts after being inspired during a stay. in a camp for disabled children” (Holmes). Once you learn these skills, you no longer have to think about techniques that you will automatically respond to with self-defense moves. Self-confidence is gained through Kempo. When you know some of these skills, you can better demonstrate the art of Kempo. As stated in the article written by Nicholas C. Stern, he states "Learn market types...... middle of paper ...... improve your self-confidence, become physically fit, have mutual respect for others. in and out of class, and it's cheap at most, if not all, kempo academies.
