Nuclear energy, although relatively new, is one of the most productive major sources of energy. It was easily adopted by France, Russia, the United States and, initially, Japan, four of the world's largest nations. Of course, as with any energy source, it has some drawbacks, most of which relate to safety concerns. For this reason, this particular source faces enormous opposition. However, the negative aspects are so far outweighed by the positive aspects (i.e. high economic efficiency and low environmental impact) that they take no advantage of the fact that nuclear energy absolutely must continue to be used, and more. extremely profitable. First, it takes a very small amount of uranium-235, the most commonly used fuel, to produce a large amount of energy. Any given amount of uranium 235 will produce 3.7 million times more energy than the same amount of coal. Although uranium itself is proportionately more expensive than coal, the amount of coal used makes its net cost much higher than that of uranium. There is also a similar relationship between nuclear and other non-renewable energy sources. Second, there is an abundant reserve of uranium 235. The United States, South Africa, Australia, Canada and Nigeria each contain between 270 and 2,400,000 tonnes. France, Argentina, India, Algeria, Gabon and Brazil each contain 36 to 124,000 tonnes. Several other countries formerly members of the Soviet Union are now also present on the market. And of course, part of the cost is returned to the economy by the mining industry, which makes the uranium available. Obviously, the use of nuclear energy is remarkably economical. Compared to other non-renewable energy sources...... middle of paper ...... it is sometimes claimed to be. The use of nuclear energy, despite its disadvantages, is extremely beneficial. It is very cost effective and environmentally friendly. Even though there is a certain amount of negative, it is insignificant compared to the positive. Yes, fully renewable resources are ideal energy sources, but until technology is perfected to the point where we can rely solely on them, nuclear power is by far the best choice.Bibliography “Environmental Impacts of 'coal energy: air pollution'.
