THERE'S A COW ON THE ROAD! By: Reeve Lindbergh There's a Cow in the Road By: Reeve Lindbergh is a great book for beginning readers ages 6-9. It is very well written and very suitable for beginning readers. Illustrations are by Tracey Campbell Pearson. They are very creative, fun and reader-friendly. The story is about a girl who is preparing for school. Meanwhile, she is surprised by all the barnyard animals gathering on the road. When I started reading this book, I was surprised at how organized it was. The book is brilliant in every way. It's neither too long nor too short. The illustrations give a lot of detail about what the author is writing. For example, on the first page the author writes: “There is a cow on the road! And it's really a shock when I wake up for the first time, at seven o'clock. The illustration shows a young girl on all fours looking out the window at a cow standing on the road. In the corner of his bed, you can see a clock that reads seven o'clock. The words match the illustrations to make this a very fun and organized book to read. I think the words in this book are very appropriate. They are also a lot of fun. The words rhyme and are a little repetitive to make reading easier and fun. For me, these words caused a sort of laughter while reading the book. The words the author uses to describe each barnyard animal in detail are a great example of how good this book really is. "There is a horse on the road! And he is full of tricks when I do my hair at seven twenty-six o'clock. He wags his tail and shakes his mane. He is a beautiful horse but a little vain. There is a horse on the road! Everything is ready to go He doesn't look sleepy and he doesn't look slow" Again, the artist's drawings to represent the descriptions of the animals. barnyard by the author are just fun and great fun for young children I love the author's use of time in this short story Every time we see it, the girl does something new to. getting ready for school and a new animal is introduced To me the story represents the challenges it takes to get ready in the morning as a little child...
