Essay / Feminism Discussion Paper - 858
For American women, I think if you don't want to be a victim, don't play that role. This has been a valuable lesson in delving deeper into my feelings about feminism and exploring how those feelings can affect me when interacting with people with feminist views opposed to mine. I think the best way to project an impartial attitude when dealing with such a patient is to handle the situation as I would someone from a different cultural background. That is, realizing that we are all different and that it is a blessing to be different. Being allowed to have different views than another person is what makes us unique and we shouldn't be torn apart because we are different. Just as I do not want to be judged for my values and opinions, I will not judge others for their same rights. Understanding this is essential to allow a relationship of trust and respect to develop between a provider and patient; especially if they have different ideologies or values. I am proud to live in a diverse nation where we have the right to be different and have different ideologies, we should celebrate our uniqueness and not destroy it.
