  • Essay / Persuasive Essay on Doctors Without Borders - 1509

Even if Doctors Without Borders is not a direct solution to access health care, it is a program implemented so that people can receive health care in dire situations. This organization overcomes the obstacle of achieving direct care. However, an article in Spiegel suggests that attacks on medical personnel and hospitals in the midst of war are causing medical personnel to question whether attempting to provide aid is worth the risk. In May 2016, “unknown assailants attacked an MSF all-terrain vehicle in the Central African Republic and shot the driver” (Kuntz). Another incident occurred in July 2016, “the Syrian regime attacked four MSF-supported hospitals in Aleppo” (Kuntz). It seems that areas surrounded by war and violence tend to have problems accessing health care. As a result, healthcare professionals must be willing to practice abroad and not just in times of crisis.
