    SUMMARY: Regularly, management seeks to correct organizational deficiencies in order to align the organization to be more efficient, effective and economical. They may choose to perform total quality management, lean six sigma or simply reduce headcount. Management may even identify symptoms without actually identifying the problem. Management may misdiagnose the problem by identifying a person or group of people as the problem. Even if problems are properly recognized, more are on the horizon and it is up to management to mitigate potential problems. Sometimes managers need to realize that the answers they seek are right in front of them; they simply need to look in the mirror.INTRO: “Good managers anticipate change, exploit opportunities, correct poor performance, and lead their organizations” (Robbins & Coulter, 2009, p. 45). Additionally, managers must also recognize that the success or failure of an organization is directly related to them (Robbins & Coulter, 2009, p. 45). Many key elements must be formulated as part of a person's management philosophy. It is an ongoing process in which growth can not only lead to an individual's potential success, but can also transcend an organization into a legacy (Draft, 2008). For this to happen, management must incorporate a philosophy that individuals possess management, supervisory and leadership skills. Organizational success cannot be based on philosophy alone. There must also be programs in place that enable everyone within an organization to succeed. All of these are similar in some ways, but very different in others.
