Essay / |Revolutions are an integral part of world history and have shaped our world into what it is today. The French and Bolshevik revolutions are just two examples of the many revolutions throughout history that brought change to their respective countries. These two revolutions had distinct causes and were spurred by other revolutions in the past. Since these two revolutions occurred many years apart, with the French Revolution in the late 16th century and the Bolshevik Revolution in the early 20th century, the ideologies behind them were somewhat different. In both countries, people went to extremes to achieve the changes they wanted. The revolutions were radical both due to food shortages and popular uprising. In both revolutions, there is a quest for change and citizens were willing to go as far as necessary to achieve that change, even if it meant the people had to overthrow their leaders. The French and Bolshevik revolutions were caused by several different factors. The French Revolution was caused mainly by the Enlightenment and the national debt. People were not happy that their country was not moving forward with the rest of the world. They wanted change and that change would only come through one means, a revolution. In this revolution, the people wanted freedom and equality for all. The American Revolution played a vital role in the start of the French Revolution, as the French aided the American Revolution by "sending its navy and troops to aid the rebellious colonists" (History of France - Causes of the French Revolution).
