  • Essay / Lack of education: lack of access to education

To answer this question, an article from Le Monde à l'école highlights some of the reasons why children in these third world countries do not receive education. “Because they are girls... Because they live in war zones... Because they are disabled... Because their countries are poor... Because of child marriage... Because of natural disasters... Because of lack of teachers… Because they are working children… Because of poor sanitation… Because there are no schools. These problems are varied and difficult to solve, but they are problems that we must work on together in order to help educate people around the world. Knowing and understanding these issues is a great place to start, but it does little to help the millions who remain uneducated. To really help these kids, there are many great sites, including Child Fund, Pencils of Promise, International Literacy and Development, and Rise International. Each of them is an accredited charity and all offer ways to help improve the education of those who are less fortunate. As you browse these sites, and others like them, you will find that the possibilities for help are numerous and varied. Some sites allow you to sponsor a specific child while many others allow you to donate towards building a school or even go into the country to help directly. Any help that can be provided to these children is a step in the right direction and helps achieve the goal of making education more accessible to all..
