    Suicide is the loss of one's own life; among the elderly community, this is a very common phenomenon. Suicide is common among older people because they likely no longer feel their life is worth living. Often, they experience ageism that deters their sense of independence; to the extent that they are perceived in the eyes of society. As well as medical issues that lead to increased dependence on others around them. Older people are not satisfied with their lives and therefore experience a feeling of hopelessness which often pushes them to suicide. Suicide is measured across psychological, environmental and physical influences; which offer limits. Many older people may feel depressed about their situation (poverty, lack of family and support, medical help). T=Trends: What are the trends in suicide among late adults? Observed trends in suicide among older adults are often based on environmental and social influences. There are many circumstances that lead older people to choose suicide. Many older people do not receive the support they need from family, friends and communities and often feel unloved. They may feel like if they had left, their emotional pain, their health pain, and their financial pain would be over. According to Karge (2011), the trends now often observed in elderly suicides are “double suicide”; it means that two people make the decision to die together. This act is often seen between couples (i.e. husband and wife, friends). Double suicide appears to be an agreement that occurs between two people willing to commit suicide together/at the same time. Deterioration in their value is common among older people; they often focus on feelings of stress, hopelessness, and are overwhelmed by their health and physical limitations. Seniors should focus on short- and long-term goals and break them down into smaller, manageable portions; which are more beneficial for their health. These seniors need to feel a certain level of independence and worth, so that they can look forward to a future they can be content with..
