Whales, sea lions and birds are all affected by plastic pollution on land and offshore. Researchers estimate that ten million tons of plastic waste end up in the ocean every year. Where seabirds and marine creatures such as turtles, seals and dolphins have difficulty differentiating between plastic and jellyfish due to their eating habits. Plastic in animals damages their digestive systems and can cause them to suffer and die.
