    Marriage is a natural right that everyone deserves and for the gay community, this right is a constant struggle. The gay community wants to show the person that they are publicly promising to be with them. Same-sex couples are constantly fighting for their right to marry. They fight to have everything in their relationship that a “normal” heterosexual couple has. Although society is evolving and increasingly accepting other ideas, including the concept of traditional marriage between a man and a woman, there remains a constant battle to try to add same-sex marriage as a legally binding commitment. There is the difficulty of overcoming the hurdles of same-sex marriage, as well as the issues of having a domestic partner. Looking at the positive aspects of legalizing same-sex marriage, it is evident that same-sex marriage brings many benefits to the gay community while also bringing many economic benefits to the United States. This is important because same-sex couples deserve all the benefits of a traditional marriage and legalizing same-sex marriage would help the U.S. economy. To begin, in analyzing the definition of marriage, one could argue that it is evolving and its meaning is evolving to accommodate the more modern meaning of marriage. Marriage to many people is considered "an alliance between a man and a woman and their sole purpose is procreation", but marriage itself has many definitions depending on who you ask (TFP Student Action). The Merriam-Webster Dictionary states that marriage is “the state of being united with a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual, contractual relationship recognized by law” (MW).
