  • Essay / The Synergy Model for Patient Care - 1208

This model can be used for evidence-based nursing practice, research, education, et cetera. This model is most beneficial to use in the intensive care setting. The AACN (nd) states: “All patients have similar needs and experience these needs across broad ranges or continuums from health to illness. Logically, the more compromised patients are, the more serious or complex their needs. The dimensions of a nurse's practice depend on the needs of the patient and family” (Basic Information section, paragraph 2). The Synergy Model forms the framework for the CCRN certification program and is also required for Magnet designation. (AACN, n.d.; Hardin, 2013). Being a critical care nurse (who is also CCRN certified) this model is frequently seen in protocols used and as an APN the synergy model will continue to be used in practice as an acute care nurse practitioner..
