Development of Personality Disorders Due to Childhood ExperiencesIntroductionI decided to research the development of antisocial personality disorders because of the quality early childhood care and experiences. Antisocial personality disorder is usually described as a disregard for others. The diagnosis of ASPD involves characteristics such as delinquency, physical aggression, deception and lying, impulsivity and irresponsibility. This topic appealed to me because my sister-in-law goes to see a therapist and they have reason to believe that she may be suffering from antisocial or borderline personality disorder. Although I won't divulge, she had many traumatic experiences growing up and had a pretty rough upbringing with her parents. This led me to become interested in this article and learn more about the connections between the two phenomena.SummaryIt has been theoretically proposed that the developmental environment is relevant to the etiology of ASPD. (Shi and Bureau, 2012, p.54) While many other studies have been conducted to find relationships between antisocial behavior and delinquency, very few have attempted to find the relationship between caregiving environment and antisocial behavior . Three other relevant studies have been carried out; establish a link between developmental processes and early aggression, conduct disorders and delinquency among adolescents. Childhood abuse has also been repeatedly linked to antisocial behavior. (Shi & Bureau, 2012, p. 55) The only problem most psychologists face is simply that antisocial behaviors have until now only been measured without any diagnostic information. Although some studies have shown that early life abuse is...... middle of article ...... focused on single mothers, but I think it would have been interesting and very helpful to see what the issues were if a father had been involved and the child was in an environment in which both parents were. I hope these psychologists will conduct more experiments covering things they couldn't do in the first one, and overall this study was amazing. . I enjoyed reading the article and learning more about the topic!ReferencesHockenbury, Don H. and Hockenbury, Sandra E. (2014). Discover psychology. Fifth edition. New York, New York. WorthPublishers.
