Essay / Views of the Catholic Church on the Ordination of Women - 1905 of how the Catholic Church views ordained women in the Church. The points of view are based on the traditional and doctrinal references on which the Catholic religion is based. Views come from various sources such as the Roman Catholic Church in the Vatican, Pope John Paul II and the newly elected Pope Benedict XVI. The views described in this dissertation are based on ancient traditions and their refusal to change traditions to fit the twentieth century. SEXISM IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH Sexism in the Catholic Church can be described in various ways. Sexism in the Catholic Church can be described as favoritism toward gender, slavery, ethnicity, and even age. The dictionary term for sexism is defined as “discrimination against people on the basis of sex; discrimination against women and stereotypical prejudices against women. » (Webster New World Dictionary, 1988) This article will focus on the issue of women in the Catholic Church not being able to play a ministerial role in the Church. The belief of Catholic doctrine is based on the fact that Jesus Christ chose only men to be his disciples and apostles. Since Catholic beliefs are doctrine and tradition, this is the basis of their reason for preventing women from becoming ordained ministers as well as priests. The Roman Catholic Church and the Pope refuse to ordain women based on these facts. The Church has always followed this example of Christ, both in the apostolic era and today in the 20th century.
