Educational Opportunities in TechnologyImagine life without modern technology, having to work with outdated tools and having little or no communication between people far away. This is, to a lesser extent, the current situation of our education system. Over the past fifty years, technology has radically changed life. The invention of computers, smartphones, and portable devices that can access the Internet, a vast new world of information, has created immeasurable new opportunities and possibilities. The creation of a vast network called the Internet has allowed an accumulation of information freely available online. With Google alone, almost all the necessary information can be obtained. Access to encyclopedias and even Wikipedia can provide enormous amounts of information to anyone searching. These easy access points to information have helped many students understand the topics. Many people have already been greatly impacted by these new technologies and the jobs they have created, and many now own a personal smartphone. Even though the rest of the world has adopted this technology, schools are still not integrating all technology. Most classrooms only have one computer and the teacher is the one with access to it. Of course, many schools have computer labs, but most of the computers are outdated. In classrooms, students still use pencil and paper while teachers are the only ones with access to a computer. Implementing individual computers in the form of iPads, laptops or other portable devices will help revolutionize the classroom. The lack of technology in classrooms has shown that education needs to be reformed to fully reflect the modern world.
