    There has been a notable increase in cell phone use among children aged 6 to 12 in recent years. Statistics show that “6 out of 10 children own a cell phone” (ConsumerReport.org). This report clearly shows that a large number of children own a phone. Today, with the latest advanced technologies, there is little we can do to prevent minors from accessing these types of devices. However, what we need to be concerned about is the harm that phones can cause to children. Lately, there have been many cases of child abductions through social media, as well as cases of cell phone thefts. Therefore, the debate over whether or not children use cell phones has created different types of concerns from parents and specialists. On the one hand, proponents who think it is good for children to own cell phones argue that cell phones keep children safe, that their parents are more connected to their child, that cell phones help them stay in contact with their friends and that cell phones help them keep up with new technologies. . On the other hand, opponents argue that children are exposed to different types of abuse, cell phones can cause them health problems, and the distraction of cell phones leads to changes in their social lives. Most of the time, parents give a cell phone to their child for their safety. . Parents believe that if they buy their children a cell phone, they will be able to reach them at any time. According to a study by International for the National Consumer League 2012, 56% of parents of children aged 8 to 12 have given their children a cell phone (NCL).
