It's hard to say the two are completely in love with each other because at one point Joey describes how he "wanted to put his hands on either side of his head and squeeze” (Gaitskill 18). This illustrates the frustration he faces as he attempts to seduce Daisy into being with him. The use of Dexedrine on Joey really starts to show when he makes comments about hurting Daisy, especially since Joey has a violent past. It seems Joey is losing patience with Daisy and her strange behaviors. When he tries to convince Daisy to do drugs, it makes it seem like he wants a relationship similar to the one he had with
