I took my IELTS exam on August 25, 2018 at the British Council. The end result was satisfactory compared to the 2 horrible and tiring months of preparation. I ended up getting an overall score of 6 in the IELTS exam (Listening-6, Reading-6.5, Speaking-6 and Writing-5.5). Talking about my home country Nepal, the degree I will get in Nepal will not be applicable in a global context due to the problem of limited seats as well as the existence of nepotism in Nepal, so that only pre-selected candidates are admitted. Another problem of Nepal's education system is that it is time consuming. Even though the course is planned for 3 years, it takes longer to complete due to strikes and political instability. Moreover, the education system in Nepal is theory-based, even practical IT-related subjects (networks and security) have few practical lessons. As I already mentioned above that I want to pursue my undergraduate studies internationally, I chose Murdoch University which is in the list of World University Rankings.Once I complete my studies, my degree will be recognized worldwide, which will help me in my country for my career. Before leaving for Australia, I compared Australia with different possible alternative countries. I compared Australia with the UK, US and India. Before leaving to study abroad, the climatic conditions must be analyzed carefully. I have found that most of the United Kingdom has an extremely cold climate that will be very difficult for me to adapt to. Australia has similar climatic conditions as Nepal in which I can study properly. Talking about USA, USA is not suitable for international students just like Australia because Australia has provided ESOS Act 2000 for international students. Similarly, the immigration process in the United States is very complex and complicated and requires other testing formalities like GMAT, GRE, which takes a lot of time. As IELTS was enough for Australia. India was our neighboring country, but I preferred Australia. Academic practice in India is quite similar to that in Nepal. In fact, India has some of the internationally recognized universities, but the number of seats is limited. India itself is a populous country; there is therefore stiff competition for these seats. It was easier to compare these aspects in Australia. Australia, officially known as Australia's Common Wealth, is a multicultural country where people from all over the world have emigrated for many years. The fact that Australia is the third largest country to accept international students also appealed to me. Australia has 8 of the world's top 100 universities; it ranks 9th in the world, keeping Australia ahead of other countries like New Zealand, Japan and Germany. The presence of world-class universities, inexpensive education system, friendly and cooperative neighborhood, multicultural, peaceful and overall crime-free social environments are some of the reasons that fascinated me towards Australia. Therefore, Australia has a high standard of living despite low tuition fees and low cost of living. The structure of tuition fees and cost of living in Australia is affordable compared to other countries. International student safety, transportation, climate, affordability, ease of understanding and conversation, etc. are other good reasons to choose Australia. The weather and climate conditions are comparable to those of Nepal. So it would be easier to adapt to the environment. Unlike Canada's long freezing winter or the difficulty of understanding the German language, Australia offered a choice of climate and language.
