Essay / Cognitive Evolution - 789
The emergence of modern cognition played a fundamental role in separating early humans from our primate predecessors, but archeology and anthropology have provided various arguments for precisely when this is produced. There have been differing claims that the modern mind may have originated when early humans created the first stone tools, the first personal ornaments, or the first works of art. In further analysis, it becomes clearer that the first complex thought did not arise from one of these single events, but rather from a combination of the first two scenarios mentioned as the third scenario supporting the claim. The human spark cannot be identified by the development of technology alone, but rather by the gradual change that occurred between the innovations of stone tools and personal ornaments known as the Lower and Middle Paleolithic period. cognition began with the ability to cut stone into tools. The field of psychology proved that it takes complex motor skills to carve flint and sharpstones associated with the Oldowan and Acheulean traditions in a positron emission tomography (PET) pilot study. (Wynn 2002, p. 391) Indeed, the application of bilateral, three-dimensional, rotational and broken symmetry, all aspects which required advance planning and a solid understanding of the natural world and its minerals. (Wynn 2002, p. 395) collaboration with anthropological approaches reveals that these skills could only be reproduced in bonobos after receiving direct stimuli, restrictions on other production methods and the absence of intended symmetry . (Wynn 392) Tools are fundamental to humans...... middle of paper ......ics such as totemism and anthropomorphism present in society. (Mithen 164)My definition of modern cognition is the ability to apply physical motor skills to create products that contain significant value not in terms of material labor but in terms of alternative goals, because it is these skills that allowed early humans to effectively communicate ideas and innovate beyond that. the natural abilities of animals, which is well represented by the hybrid form of development undertaken by early humans during the Lower and Middle Paleolithic period through the physical form of stone tools and then socially through personal ornamentation which exhibited the ability to create complex representational meanings. in the physical world. This fusion between these two fields flourished into an explosion of innovation demonstrated in art and later a renaissance called the Neolithic period..
