Persuasive Essay: Media Violence is the main cause of violence in today's societyHave you ever wondered why there is so much violence these days? Why does it seem like the hippie era of when your parents were young seemed so peaceful? It's 2014, the world is full of video games focused on killing and stealing from others. Every day on the news we learn that another one of our soldiers has been brutally killed by a Taliban flying RPG. I believe that media has a great impact on today's society. Nowadays there are so many different things that influence us, for example television. Scientists have carried out different tests to study the effect of television on young children and have discovered that violent scenes increase violent behavior. How does TV violence lead to aggressive behavior? I believe that young children are influenced by what they see and hear. Research has been conducted to prove that young children will imitate violent actions seen on television. It has been proven that children aged 4 and under are not able to differentiate between right and wrong. Usually, when children see violence in the media, they think it is the right thing to do to solve their problem. Children always have their favorite heroes and I believe they will try to imitate what they do. Most kids these days have favorite superheroes and if they do bad things, the child will do the same. For example, as we read in the play, the boy took his knife and stabbed his father, so maybe he thought he was cool by doing so and did it because of this that he saw in the media. Unfortunately, there aren't many good superheroes showing the right thing in media today. I think children can start this... middle of paper ...... are one of the biggest causes of failure in society because they influence so much of what they say and what they make. If superstars stepped up and tried to be more respectful of themselves and set a good example on screen and radio, I firmly believe we would have a more peaceful society. Our television screens are filled with machine guns firing at 1000 rounds per minute and bombs exploding, that's not what we're supposed to see. If the government censored more of what is broadcast on television, I'm pretty sure the planet would be a safer place to live. In conclusion, as an ordinary citizen, there is little we can do to save society. So it's up to the rich, famous and powerful to step up and watch what's being done on television. I am sure that if all media communications were closely monitored we would have a better future for our society..
