    Unbridled female sexuality in popular media is considered a kind of taboo. As a society, we are not accustomed to the pleasure of women being represented on screen, despite our so-called “egalitarian” society. This is largely due to the inflection of sexism and patriarchy, placed in the minds of the masses, which influences the internalized discomfort of female sexuality. Of course, this does not apply to male sexuality. Male sexuality is relentless and respected, even revered. These concepts of unbridled sexuality, equal pleasure, and lack of censorship have seeped into one of the primary sources of media in our society, namely all-encompassing cinema. Film acts as a medium of art and information. We are entertained and nourished for thought when we watch a film. We are immersed in the world of the characters, we see their flaws, we see their thoughts, we see them essentially as a whole unit. That’s the beauty of the film, the progression of the character. This is progressing in all facets of cinema, all genres included. The creation of Italian cinema was particularly impressive for character development. Italian cinema was a creative quest in the minds of Italians, who had lived a lot after the war and who had a lot to say. It has expanded into different themes, different plots, creating a diverse genre worthy of mention in the film society. However, all Italian films seem to have one thing in common. In some cases this thing wasn't terribly scandalous, and in others it was anything but subtle. That thing, of course, is sex. With sex in popular media, we usually have two people, usually a man and a woman, to perform the act.
