Essay / My Personal Goals and Success Plan
Table of ContentsGetting Social MediaMaking a ConnectionReferencesWhen viewing the overall goals, I marked 2 because I am still learning what goals I want to achieve in the program and for the future. This is an intermediate goal because I have difficulty visualizing overall goals. I have 2 others: reading and analyzing complex texts. This would be an intermediate goal because in this field, I know that as future DMFTs, we are constantly reading and analyzing texts. Formulating achievable goals is another 2, as I feel like I struggle with this because my goals are constantly changing and with constant change it's hard to set those goals. This is an intermediate goal because I think this goal is a long-term goal and it will require me to achieve it throughout my studies. Finally, self-assessment of my skills and progress is an intermediate goal because I am constantly progressing in my education and in this area I am slowly evaluating my personal goals and progress. These are all three because I feel I have mastered these goals because I understand from attending Northcentral that my goals are very achievable, understanding academic policy is important for learning and for future references. When it comes to searching an online library, I feel like I've mastered this because I know where the databases are currently located and I now understand how to use them effectively. When it comes to time management, I have mastered it because I use a planner to know which days I have time to do tasks and I dedicate the available times to complete those tasks without procrastinating. In time management, my family has always influenced this as they have always told me that it is important to take my time and manage my time wisely with homework. My teachers and supervisor also influence this because they told me that to succeed in this field, I should manage my time wisely. Visualizing overall goals is a 2 with intermediate goals. This skill is a 2 for me because entering this PhD program, I was unsure of my overall goal. All I know and want to do is give back to the community and work either in a private practice, hospital or county setting, primarily with children. For the longest time, my goal has always been to help children and provide them with resources or techniques to help them with their daily struggles. Achieving my goals while attending Northcentral University was a smooth and immediate change for me, so I listed this goal as 3. When Argosy University closed its doors, I thought my dreams of becoming doctor were destroyed, I was panicked and stressed. While searching for schools to transfer to, I was lucky enough to come across Northcentral University's page. I became less and less stressed as I spoke more and more at Northcentral University thanks to the transfer. Once a student at Northcentral University, I felt like my goals were within reach again and I had great hope. I like what is mentioned in the Academic Integrity course catalog: “The Key to Integrityacademic has its origins in the writer's choices about how to separate his or her voice from those of others. » Applying APA citations, an indication of 3, because it was simple for me since I discovered APA in my undergraduate studies. So, I knew him by the time I got to grad school. Even though I have mastered this skill to the best of my ability, I still struggle with knowing how to cite in my essays, but it is an adjustable skill that can be corrected and modified over time, but other than that , I have mastered this skill. without even knowing it. By understanding and applying the academic integrity policy, I think I have mastered it, so I gave it a 3. While adapting to the transfer and understanding Northcentral, I read it carefully and began to understand what was expected of me from the university. I understand why there is an academic integrity policy, many take the work of others and claim it as their own or don't even connect their work to the original work. Argosy University also had a similar policy, but again, it is simple to follow and understand. When reading and analyzing complex texts, I chose a 2, because I still have difficulty reading it carefully. I have minimal experience reading output from articles, but I have no difficulty reading the assigned readings required for my courses. I'm still reading the materials, but the information isn't retained properly, so I'll have to go back and reread the articles, sometimes the reading assignments from my classes. This helps me by trying to understand the information to the best of my ability. Usually, rereading assignments or articles helps me because I may have read the information in depth, so reading the second or third time refreshes my mind and memory and grasps the information in an understandable way. When searching an online library, I myself would give a 3 because I am comfortable searching the online library, whether for class assignments or for personal use. I feel very comfortable using the NCU Library to search for information on my topic or anything related to my clients while I work. By searching for information in the NCU Library search engine, it gives me more education and knowledge to become a better therapist. I admit, I forget how to find certain articles in given search engines, but that's a part of life and it takes me a few minutes to remember how to search for information again. Over time, managing is a struggle but with time and adapting to it, it has become a daily causality for me. So, with this skill, I gave myself a 3, because I learned to manage my time more wisely and use that time to spend on homework. Time management also helps me balance school and life better. It also helps me by using my planner and knowing what I need to finish. Time management makes my life a little easier because I hate procrastinating, even when I procrastinate my best work is invisible and would not be my best work. By procrastinating, I forget the small key points that I wanted to talk about initially. This skill was an immediate goal for me, I learned it very quickly and adapted to it quickly as well. Trying to set concrete and achievable personal goals, these were both immediate and intermediate goals with an indication of 2. This skill These are both immediate and intermediate goals because I feel that I haveachievable goals, but also creating them was a struggle because I didn't know what was in store for me. Depending on the situation, I always adapt my goals to whatever happens. Since we're talking about goals, self-assessment skills and progress go hand in hand. I think this skill is a 2 with intermediate goals because it is a manageable skill to master. But I see myself progressing but when I evaluate myself, I underestimate myself. But as I continue, I've seen the growth from the first day of class to today, and I've noticed that I've come a long way. All of the chart model skills were all adaptable but also difficult to manage and maintain. trace of. Among the skills listed, the one that really helped me and the one that I appreciated was managing my time. I became better at managing my time while pursuing my graduate studies. The only skill that is still difficult for me to master is reading and analyzing complex texts. With the professors I had at Argosy University, we were only given I didn't know if I had critiqued the papers correctly or if I had done the assignment correctly, but the professors failed to give me a detailed response with my articles. I was given shorter ways to understand the articles, but I would deceive myself and not fully read and understand the articles. Achieving all of these goals would be ideal, because if I want to be successful in my doctoral endeavors, I must be successful in academic work, leading up to graduation, and post-graduation in the area of marriage and family providing therapy and services to clients. Not only do I read for personal use, but I can also educate the client, based on their diagnosis, and provide them with information they did not previously know about their situation. Thus, analyzing and reading the text can be beneficial for both the therapist and the client. Getting Social Many events have been posted about the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT), such as the CAMFT Annual Conference, CAMFT advocates meeting with a senator. in Washington DC, how Medicare needs LMFT, a 10-day event taking place in Southern California to focus on mental health and its importance to how others struggle, where CAMFT supports these individuals, and how can is Mental Health Awareness Month. the events are very interesting to me because the events I mentioned are related to marriage and family therapy. There was so much information about the conference, the career fair, CAMFT members attending social events across the country. I appreciated how CAMFT members were very active and cooperative with events and social gatherings. I like all the articles which was interesting as more and more LMFTs are getting licensed and trained like me so it always helps with all the information that is being posted to help us get hours or licensing. Topics that were not published were how LMFTs are making a difference in the world of mental health, how statistics are not shown to understand the severity of mental health, how treatment in the early stages is effective . Content was published daily throughout the week, with information that was useful to either current or future LMFTs or the public. Having content posted every day is very helpful because it gives me a little refresher or I learn something new daily. It is also useful because it can also helpstudents in their research, for example by helping them with research proposals or thesis ideas. I loved seeing this because CAMFT had an annual conference where guest speakers would come and provide information about their population or research they had done and present it at the conference. I would have taken so much information from all the guest speakers and tried to adapt it into my own sessions or research. It would have been nice to attend the conference as well. The level of engagement between the organization and followers is low. Since the organization posts events or small memos daily, followers do not appear to respond to many messages. Looking at the organization's messages, I realized that the organization does not respond to messages. It's rare for the organization to respond from what I've seen. Even though they post daily, follower responses are minimal. Additionally, when followers reply to the post, they tag someone in their replied post. The messages had a more informative or educational purpose. I would show that the organization is not responding to subscribers in posts due to lack of response. Regarding ethics, I don't see the organization's ethical standards or expectations on their Facebook page. First, CAMFT should publish its ethical standards and expectations on its Facebook and social media platforms. Another indicator would be to have these standards and expectations in a visible place. An ethical standard I would advise CAMFT is to implement confidentiality and see that it is an important consideration in LMFT. Confidentiality would be a factor because the therapist would want the client to feel safe and able to trust the therapist with the reason they are seeking therapy. According to Bonnie R. Benitez (2004), “in general, therapists are prohibited from disclosing confidential communications to a third party unless required or authorized by law. » As LMFT, we are legally required to respect confidentiality. If it is not respected, the MFT may be held responsible for civil liability or criminal prosecution. Bonnie R. Benitez (2004) also states that "marriage and family therapists do not disclose confidential patient information, including the names or identities of their patients, to anyone except a) as required by law b ) if permitted by law c) when the marriage and family therapist is a defendant in a civil, criminal or disciplinary action arising out of the therapy (in which case the patient's confidences may only be disclosed in that action), or (d) if there is prior written authorization, and then such information may only be revealed in accordance with the terms of the authorization. Once the client's file is completed; the file is kept in a filing cabinet and locked when business hours close for the day. Keeping records in a locked filing cabinet protects the client and their confidentiality. Another ethical standard and expectation is to be responsible to customers. It is the therapist's job to encourage clients to inform and educate them about the rules of therapy, such as child or elder abuse, adult abuse, or even becoming a danger to themselves or others. This standard reminds the therapist that we have a duty to protect our clients and keep them safe from harm. Being a client-facing therapist shows that you are responsible for caring for and protecting clients in and out of session. “Duty to protect” is what is called in the field of marital therapy and=5014”
