Essay / The Benefits of Self-Knowledge by Socrates - 1278
Once a person is aware of his ignorance, he can seek knowledge by learning from others and discovering for himself. Living a life where one constantly examines himself is important, because if he does not examine himself, he will not have knowledge about the things he does not know about himself. Learning from others is a passive way of learning something because you are not trying to experience it yourself and learn through experiences. Learning from others is crucial from the beginning of a human being's life. As humans grow up, they should start seeking more knowledge for themselves rather than learning from others, because seeking knowledge on our own can help them discover the deeper truth about themselves or something else. In school, students often learn from others instead of acquiring knowledge themselves. When students begin to discover knowledge on their own, they attempt to access the truth and desire to gain knowledge on the subject.
