The majority of American high schools offer courses devoted to the study of animals. Countless schools have recently added multiple classes like these. Hurricane High School especially needs to add an animal science class. Many students would benefit from this course in several different ways. Not only that, but the school will also benefit greatly. It is highly recommended that Hurricane High School offer an Animal Science course for the 2014-2015 school year. This course would benefit the school as a whole by preparing students who are considering entering the professional field of animal contact, making the school more impressive, and giving students a chance to try new things and possibly discover their hidden interests. Courses like these would prepare students who are considering entering this career field. Many students have enrolled in this particular field in college, but too many of them did not have a high school education in this field. The job outlook for an occupation dealing with animals, such as that of a veterinarian, is expected to increase by thirty-six percent over the next ten years.* At the same time, however, high school students preparing to become veterinarians only take the general course of science courses because they do not have the opportunity to take animal science courses.* Many other courses which provide additional help in preparing for a specific profession are offered. At Hurricane High School alone, there are more than 20 career technology training courses, including food and nutrition, apparel, emergency medical services and several others.
