    Naturally, journalists working in traditional mass media are actually never interested in elevating the voices of ordinary citizens as sources of information, nor in as audiences influencing editorial decisions. However, with this participatory practice, media and journalists have the responsibility to provide “a channel, forum or platform for extramedia voices” (Christians et.al., 2009 cited in Reich, 2011, p. 99), whatever its central role in observing and informing what is happening in society. In order to maintain its existence, the media must allow the public to be active in the discussion of public issues (Leonard, 1999 cited in Reich, 2011: p. 99). This has given journalists and media managers a new role as comment moderators, who decide which public comments will be published and which will not (Hermida, 2011: p. 183). This role is similar to what used to be called gatekeeping, but the material is derived from free discussions among the public. '
