Essay / The beginning of the Cold War - 1064
After all the invasions of different countries in Europe and the death of so many innocent people, Adolf Hitler was finally brought to an end. One of the consequences of the end of World War II was the division of Germany into four zones controlled by Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union and the United States. The lack of agreement and compromise with the Soviet Union over Germany's deal led to the start of the Cold War. The United States and the USSR entered into an arms race to have the greatest nuclear capability. This led to the Space Race, another fierce competition for who could get to the Moon first and have the best space technology. Focusing on the entire world, the United States believed that if one country fell under the influence of communism, then surrounding countries would follow in a domino effect. McCarthyism was the effect of communism on the United States, as it was a time when some people were accused of being disloyal to the government due to improper political ties. The most important factor in the Cold War was the creation of the Ranger Mission space race, the Titans and the contribution of President Kennedy. The things we did in the space race, like creating NASA leading to the construction of new technologies, were justified because they initially helped the United States protect itself and they still affect us today today in our ability to realize our dreams. The program created by NASA, called Ranger Mission, was a major factor in advancing the Soviet Union. Ranger 7 was the first American space probe to successfully transmit close-up images of the lunar surface to Earth from the Ranger mission. It transmitted more than 4,300 photographs during the last 17 minutes of its flight (“Ranger 7” n.pag.). Ranger 7 marked a turning point in American space exploration. After... middle of paper ......tes and the Soviet Union to see who could make the biggest development in space first. The creation of NASA, which helped develop new technologies during the space race, was proven because it helped the United States protect itself and, even today, helps us realize our dreams . From President Kennedy's contribution to the program to the construction of Ranger missions and rocket programs, America has become one of the most powerful and advanced countries in the world. The space race not only created shuttles, it also created things we now use every day like water purification, chemical detection, solar cells, and more. The Cold War may have many negative things, like the spread of communism and how one country will fall under its influence and followed by the other, but one thing that has benefited the world so far has been the creation of new technologies by NASA during the Cold War. war.
