  • Essay / Community and Its Influence on Medical Career Choices

Listening to people, trying to understand their stories and struggles is something I have always deeply revered. I enjoy learning about different cultural backgrounds and working with a diverse patient base. By working in different settings, I have learned to use these qualities as my strengths to provide my patients with the best care possible. Working in medicine, I firmly believe that maintaining health and preventing disease are the two most important aspects. Family medicine, with its unique longitudinal, community-based approach to health, provides a platform to promote preventive care and an opportunity to motivate patients and encourage lifestyle changes through continuity of care. As I enter the next phase of my training, I am committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered, evidence-based care, while emphasizing preventative medicine and continuity of care for my patients of all.
