Essay / My intention to study artificial intelligence at the university level
At summer school I was asked to write about my hero. Since I didn't have a hero to write about, I did some research on computers and came across Marvin Minsky. He answered the question: “Will robots inherit the earth?” his response was “Yes, but they will be our children”. This quote interested me which led me to look into this work of Minsky's arm since I was interested in robotics. Then I came across his work on AI, in which he attempted to discover human thought processes and replicate them in machines. Say no to plagiarism. I was very interested in robotics, but looking at AI, I found myself wanting to develop software rather than hardware. I've become a more independent learner since coming to university and I feel like I'm thriving more at university than at school since getting an A in maths in one year. I enjoyed meeting new people and the freedom at university. I am currently doing additional mathematics. Enjoy the challenge of solving algebra. I'm doing a level of physics. I am participating in a coding skills course to improve and increase my coding skills. I also took courses (SUMP) in solving unusual maths problems at Swansea University to improve my maths skills. Doing SUMP taught a different thought process when solving equations. This makes me understand that you want an equation to solve a set of question types multiple times, not just once but multiple times. I applied my coding, because I don't want to be able to use it just once. I want reusable code. I did a level of computer science, which helped me develop a love for this subject. Like I didn't really do coding until 12th grade. And when I started learning to code, I appreciated that coding allows you to put other codes together to create a different program and to be creatively free to code what you love to do. the program crashes, slowly finding and fixing these errors, I learned how to avoid these errors and how to fix them if they occur. I participated in the “Brilliant Club” where I learned about cancer research and what I hope to achieve there. My final task was to write an essay graded at the university level. Through this program, I was able to build a solid foundation in academic writing, referencing, and research. I spent the sixth week of my summer at Aberystwyth Summer School studying mathematics, physics and computer science. I enjoyed the classes and student life. I was able to develop my referencing and writing skills to improve my academic writing during the Summer School. I was a senior leader at my high school and currently a student ambassador for my college. Representing my school or college should give me the opportunity to practice my interaction with new people, helping to develop my communication skills. I was sponsored to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. Where I worked with other people to help me improve my leadership, communication and teamwork skills. One of the hobbies is chess. I appreciated how creative and fatal a move in chess is, and getting one mistake wrong can lead to your downfall. Sometimes I even review my moves in a chess engine to see.
