  • Essay / Short Narrative Story: Every Story with a Happy Ending

    The piece looked like one of those photos you would see on Facebook with the purposes of the boyfriend hashtag. I found out he's been planning this for a month now and it took him two days to decorate this entire hotel room. The room was filled with balloons, Polaroid photos of us, a big birthday cake, two bouquets of flowers and much more. He decorated this room so carefully and neatly that everything in this room has a meaning behind it. He listened to me well, back then I told him on my 18th birthday that I wanted to be treated like a princess, and I told him to do something special that will make all the girls jealous. I even gave him ideas but he didn't even pay attention the whole time, he even fell asleep! But now I know he's just pretending. Donnie even lit my favorite bath and body candle. I was so happy and emotional to the point that I felt like I was going to throw up. That's right, when I turned around, Donnie held the birthday cake, told me to make a wish, blew out the candles and pointed behind me. Behind me is a huge box that says, “Make a wish and open it!” The box was so huge that I thought there was a person inside! When I opened the box, other balloons were rushing outside and the bottom of the box is where the main gift is. Donnie's gift was so small compared to the box he put in it. I took out the gift and started screaming. I couldn't believe my own eyes what I just saw! I turned around and looked at him, he gave me a big smile and nodded. It’s a Givenchy designer bag; This is the bag I wanted for so long but could never save enough money to buy. I always brag about it and all I heard from him was that the bag is so ugly, too expensive, not worth it, etc. This is a big deal because of how much he hated this bag but he ended up buying it for me anyway.
