  • Essay / The role of alternative sources of energy - 1206

Energy consumption in our world is vital, especially in the economy. However, the methods of obtaining energy are harmful in many ways. The worst of the many consequences is the release of greenhouse gases; These gases are dangerous for the environment and the health of humans and animals. The causes of all harmful effects come from fossil fuels. These fuels are made up of combinations of hydrogen and carbon atoms called hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbons come in many forms, from the smallest molecules and smoothest liquids to the largest molecules and most viscous liquids. There are three types of hydrocarbons, alkanes, alkenes and alkynes. Alkanes are hydrocarbons made of only single bonds, alkenes are made of only one double bond, and alkynes are made of only one triple bond. When hydrocarbons are burned in the presence of oxygen (in other words, combustion), the products are water, carbon dioxide, and heat, but when there is not enough oxygen , the harmful product produced is carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is toxic and can cause death if absorbed into the body. Due to these harms, alternative energy sources are created to produce energy. But hydrocarbons are still used today because they are the only main energy source available and the easiest to find. There are many alternative energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, nuclear energy, hydroelectric energy and many others. These alternative sources may not be as harmful as fossil fuels, but each of them has its pros and cons. The first example of an alternative energy source is created by solar energy. Solar power uses a solar panel to absorb heat from the sun and convert it into useful energy used to produce electricity... middle of paper ...... and this world is significant and important, so it should be saved, while we are in the process of making alternative fuels that are better and just as good! To do this, the alternative energy sources that I have indicated in the above paragraphs are used, while creating the perfect, best, non-harmful and non-polluting alternative energy source. Therefore, I conclude that the role The importance of alternative energy sources in the global energy economy is significant. There are pros and cons that affect both the economy and the environment. Non-renewable resources, such as fossil fuels, must be conserved in order to prevent a crisis from occurring in the economy. There are many alternative energy sources and each type has its advantages and disadvantages. Without the presence of alternative fuels, the economy will not remain stable, nor will the environment..
