Essay / The story shows the terrible events of World War II - 736
There are certain events in history that people will never completely understand. Some of these events are difficult to deal with simply because of the scale of the brutality and bloodshed. Cases like these seem to be too old or too distant to be real. However, the events of the 1940s did not go back that far and involved Canadians living today. As we examine World War II, the Jewish Holocaust, and the postwar world, we will understand that terrible events can happen at any time and to anyone. By early 1940, World War II was well underway. Hitler's military technique, known as "Blitzkrieg", was very successful and within months almost all of continental Europe was in German hands. England, with their Prime Minister Sir. Winston Churchill was Hitler's only undefeated opponent. Assuming that England would soon surrender, Germany turned against its most powerful ally, Russia, and was ready to take over the world. However, the tide began to turn, and with the bombing of Peril Harbor, the United States joined the war against Germany and Japan. With so many world powers against him, Hitler could not hold out for long and the German armies were soon defeated. Then, in a final blow to force an end to the war, the United States dropped the deadliest weapon the world had ever seen and killed thousands of Japanese in seconds. It took only two atomic bombs to end World War II, but the technology of splitting atoms into deadly weapons would shape the next 45 years. Obviously, World War II, born from Hitler's radical ideas, radically altered the course of history and showed the potential deviation that one man and his sinful ideas can create. As the Second Cold War came to an end, the real truth about the Jewish Holocaust...... middle of paper......n happens at any time and to anyone. We saw how Hitler brainwashed his people into believing that killing Jews was a benefit to his country, but have you ever thought about how Canadians put children in school from age 3 and leave them there until about 17 or 18, which gives them the government had 14 years to brainwash them. Looking back at the start of the Cold War, it is clear that not every country we have dealings with can be trusted. And finally, many people claim that they would never give in to people like Hitler, they claim that they would stand up if their Jewish niebghor was persecuted. One must stop and think carefully about unnecessary things and not just jump to such conclusions. It is truly unlikely that many Canadians will step out of their comfort zone and risk their lives for others. It's doubtful, but it's something we should all be willing to do..
