The United States wanted to expand to all corners of the world. Government officials spread in the media that the USS Maine had been attacked by the Spanish, but this information was also a false statement intended to make people believe that a war must be the solution to stop the Spanish. This angered Americans and once again the government sold us another war with propaganda about patriotism. However, the real reason that caused a new war was money. The profit from every war is enormous for the United States, and to increase that profit, they had to make Americans want to fight for the United States. An example of this is the “coal and iron trade, which has not been as healthy” as in previous years.
