Essay / Overcoming Obstacles - 1962
Overcoming Obstacles Throughout a person's life, he or she faces different obstacles and challenges of all types. My life in particular has been full of ups and downs, especially related to my football career. In the novel The Pact, three boys, George, Rameck and Sam, face many obstacles throughout their lives, which they must learn to overcome and succeed through their own will. Basically, I did the same thing. My football career has been one of the hardest challenges of my life in creating the person I am today. I was always taught that football should be about the love of the game and that it should be fun. Unfortunately, I had to overcome many obstacles before I could truly love the game for what it was worth. I grew up and continued to love the game, little knowing at the time the obstacles I would face and have to overcome. My difficulties with football started very early in my life. I was an average player, determined to succeed and go far. Early in my football career, I started having difficulty breathing and found it difficult to run normally. I was then diagnosed with asthma. I was frustrated with the way I was playing, but I decided I wasn't going to let asthma control my life or my dreams. As in The Pact, George, Rameck, and Sam tried not to let the distractions of their home lives interfere with their drive to succeed in college and achieve their dreams. In George's case, I think he struggled at home because he never had a male figure in his life. His parents divorced early in his life. When her mother remarried, it didn't last long. George came home to find that all of his stepfather's belongings were missing. Rameck's mother was involved in alcohol and tobacco use...... middle of paper ...spirituals, and helped them through their difficult times. I honestly believe that each of these people, as well as myself, are much stronger people because of the obstacles we have faced. My football career taught me to work hard, strive for success and not give up when things get tough. George, Sam and Rameck worked their whole lives to stay off the streets, even though they encountered many bumps and bruises, they never wanted to give up the one thing they all dreamed of, overcoming the odds to become the best doctors of their ability. .This article was more difficult because I had to link it to the book The Pact. I found that at first I made almost no connection between it and the book. You can see it in my first draft. But as the suggestions came in and I reworked my article, it turned out to be a good article. (as you can see in my other versions)
