    Elijah's Journey – One Year ReviewThe Organization and Business ConceptIn December 2014, Elijah's Journey, Inc. is an S-Corp that purchased two houses in row in Bolingbrook, Illinois, and transformed them into CILA homes. A CILA house is an integrated community lifestyle. It establishes living arrangements for adults (aged 18 and over) in a group home, single-family home or apartment. A CILA is for adults with mental or developmental disabilities. The CILA Act requires that CILA programs meet certain requirements so that participants have safe and stable housing conditions. The law also requires CILA programs to provide services to help participants achieve independence in daily life and economic self-sufficiency. The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) is the state agency authorized to enforce these standards. Under the law, a community mental health or developmental services organization may obtain a license from IDHS to operate a CILA program. There may be four to eight unrelated adults with low, moderate, or high developmental disabilities living under the direct supervision of Community Developmental Services. agency. Residents receive comprehensive, individualized residential adaptation, personal support services, and other diverse supports under the direction of a community support team within the local agency. Elijah's Journey provides supervised and supportive living arrangements that address the preferences, strengths, abilities, needs, and lifespan issues of adults with developmental disabilities.
