Essay / BULLY and Bullying: What a Student Thinks About Bullying
Bullying is becoming an increasingly common problem facing our young society in the United States. Many children have been bullied by their peers. Many children react in different ways, and the film BULLY documents bullied children and their reactions to bullying. It documents how their families are affected and the effects of bullying on the children. Bullying should never be allowed. In the movie BULLY, five children are victims of bullying. Two of these children commit suicide, another takes a gun on the bus to threaten the people who bully him, another walks away, and a third suffers constant abuse from the bullies. I only believe that one of those situations was handled correctly, and that was the Kelby situation. She tried to let people adjust to her presence, but when they continued to mistreat her, she and her family pushed the problem away. Having to move out of your home isn't ideal, but if the problem isn't resolved, sometimes it's best to remove yourself from the situation. The remaining situations were the bullying situations in the movie that I didn't think were handled properly. four of the five children and documented situations. Ty committed suicide when he was just eleven years old because he felt like there was no way to solve the problem. Obviously, this situation wouldn't have been handled well if Ty ended up killing himself. Tyler committed suicide at the age of seventeen because he was being bullied. Again, obviously killing yourself wasn't the right way to handle things. Ja'Meya took a gun on the bus to threaten the students who were harassing her. Violence, especially violence that can result in death, is never the right answer. Alex was bullied on the bus and at school. He continually brought back the bull... middle of paper ... help. You can remove yourself from the situation (if you are the victim) by changing your bus route, school, class, etc. to get away from the bully. Bullying exists, but we must stop it. Bullying can and must be stopped. It happens more often than you think, because if it doesn't happen directly to you or in front of you, you won't know it exists. Bullies should not be allowed to torment people, and people who stand up to their bullies and report bullying can escape bullying. Report the bullying. Call for help, run for an adult, report the problem, but don't let the bullying happen unhindered. “End Bullying Before It Ends a Life” Works Cited “Justin Furuglyas at Project BULLY.” 2013.
