Essay / Teenage Rebellion In Teenagers - 887
They say that all teenagers are rebels, but my experience tells me that is not the case. Everyone knows that teenagers tend to go out and do things against the social norms of today's times. Although many teenagers do things that are not right at the time, many of them follow what is expected of them. As an older teenager, I had the opportunity to do things that seemed more mature than my age accepted. Even though I had the opportunity to do these things, I never did it. A major theme that runs through a teenager's life is their desire to experience new things, especially when they go to college. Although the typical age for sex and smoking is 18 and the drinking age is 21 (in the state of West Virginia), many teens experience these things at mid-adolescence. However, not all teenagers do these things. Personally, I have a strong aversion to smoking and drinking. My group of friends that I stand with also like to stay clean. Although my friend group is clean, I know a few kids who fit the stereotype. Nowadays, many children think that alcohol and smoking become a necessity at a younger age. Even though the laws are of a certain age, there are children who are able to obtain these things through third parties or in a sneaky way. There is only a label of rebel because some kids do things. Again, not all teenagers are like this. I have great respect for my father's orders and never try to go against his wishes. I also like helping elderly people who are not able to do certain physical activities like mowing their lawn. Most teenagers did not have a good parental figure who taught them right and wrong and what is respectful. There are adults who still want to live as teenagers and take their minor teenagers to events that introduce them to things that can be described as rebellious.
