Beauty, for example, is a term used to define the quality of a woman; a woman was not good enough if society did not place her beauty high enough. The biggest problem for third wave feminists is that it was not the woman herself who defined her own beauty, but society defining it for her. Third wave feminism wants to open society's eyes to this unconscious behavior that it follows; a behavior that oppresses women by teaching girls that they must be thin, have big breasts and hide their flaws to achieve perfect skin in order to have the “right” sexuality. The worst part is that society cannot take full responsibility for the oppression of women who did not have these ideal standards of beauty; women hurt other women too. Often, women who do not fit this beauty standard are excluded from friend groups because other women do not want to be associated with them, for fear of harming their own beauty status. Third wave feminists do not want to put up with this oppression of anyone. Whether it's women shaming other women or women shaming themselves because society has told them they're not good enough, third-wave feminism calls for to put an end to all this. Women have the right to define their own beauty and the same goes for men. Men have grown up in a society that tells them they have to be tall, dark and handsome.
