This psychological analysis of criminal behavior examines the life of a serial killer, known as John Wayne Gacy, Jr. He is best known for dressing up as a clown and committing violent murders against specific targets; the nickname he is known for is the "Killer Clown". Additionally, Gacy is an important individual to study or analyze due to the numerous merciless anxiety murders he committed and the factors that took place throughout his childhood into adulthood, which may having had influence over the actions he committed on his poor and vulnerable victims. Understanding Gacy's actions and mindset can be quite complex for society, as well as how he became one of the most prolific and notorious murders in the United States. The importance that I find relevant, which played a major role in the numerous murders of John Wayne Gacy in Chicago, Illinois, lies in the dysfunctional social structures followed such as: his father-son relationship, his antisocial behavior. school and its environment. Future criminology professionals will be able to better understand and delve deeper into the psychological theories found in most murderers that correlate with Gacy's gruesome procedures, as some theorists have already revealed their own theories on how Gacy grew up to become a murderer. For example, “theorists view moral behavior as self-regulated through self-evaluative mechanisms where one can approve or disapprove of irresponsible or inhumane behavior. It is clear that Gacy demonstrated a lack of moral behavior and, therefore, in the act he was unable to adequately disapprove of his behavior to avoid it altogether” (“John Wayne Gacy Jr. | Criminology, nd).
