Essay / Ebay Review - 749
“EBay Inc. is an American multinational consumer-to-consumer Internet company headquartered in San Jose, California. It was founded in 1995 and became a notable success story of the dot-com bubble; it is now a multi-billion dollar company with operations located in over thirty countries. The Company operates eBay.com, an online auction and shopping website where individuals and businesses buy and sell a wide variety of goods and services around the world. EBay offers different opportunities for its customers to purchase an item. In fact, they also included the ability to purchase a product instantly with the “Buy Now” option. The main auction for the company is basically to provide a concept of buying and selling products online. (Profile: eBay, Inc, 2014) The reason why I chose this company is because I use this website very often for various reasons. I can either buy but also sell old products that I no longer use and then make money while making someone happy with a lower price than the current market. I firmly believe that EBay gives a good image of our society and our generation today. Almost everything can be done online and the “virtual” world has a huge impact on people. I guess people learned how to use all these different websites and gained some knowledge about all these new technologies. I think it's very interesting to learn about a company as big and famous as EBay, that's why it caught my attention. Regarding a possible investment in EBay, I strongly believe that it is useful to examine the financials of the company. As far as we know, the investment grade of EBay as a long-term investment is quite high. “The company has a 10% debt-to-equity ratio that relies on very little paper...or eBay compared to last years. Overall, I strongly believe that EBay's prices are not justified. The company continues to be successful and continues to deliver strong results, which is why I encourage investors to invest in eBay. Although people always think that EBay is only a place where people bid to buy an item, they forget that it is also a place where most transactions are made at a fixed price. Amazon Inc. remains the leader in this area but EBay occupies a dominant position in second place. As an online retail company, EBay Inc. will face technological advancements in the future and then face different challenges. As a leader in this market, even if the estimates for the future regarding its price/earnings ratios are not really encouraging, I do not think that this reflects the good results delivered by the company..
