In countries where religious law is important, it is very important and respected. It is a divine law that strives to guide human behavior with a spiritual mandate. Religious law serves as a representation of the values and morals of the religion. Most followers of this type of law believe that the law comes from God(s). A certain type of religious law is Islamic law. The Quran is the basis of Islamic law. “The Quran establishes basic standards of human conduct, but does not provide a detailed code of law. » (crf-usa.org) During his lifetime, Muhammad claimed to have had a vision of the angel Gabriel while hearing voices; For the rest of his life, Muhammad said he had visions where he could hear the words of God. Therefore, Muhammad's followers recorded what he said while writing the Quran. According to the Constitutional Rights Foundation website, Muhammad helped clarify the law by interpreting provisions of the Quran and acting as a judge in legal cases. Additionally, Islamic law, or sharia, has become an important part of the Muslim religion. Sharia law literally means “path” in Arabic and guides all aspects of Muslim life. Followers of Sharia law will look to Sharia law for all aspects of their lives, whether it is who they should or should not invite to dinner, get married, or how they should behave in a certain situation. Muslims who recognize Sharia law as the ultimate guide in their lives turn to it for whatever guidance or help they need. He decides how they live their lives. Marriage and divorce are very important aspects of Islamic law, but criminal law could be considered the most controversial. Sharia law classifies its offenses according to the types of punishment each receives. There are offenses that are paired...... middle of paper ...... are decreasing. People see the countries around them adopting modern and tolerant policies and it makes them think. I believe that Sharia law will continue to be effective until its followers decide that it is no longer effective. There is actually no document called sharia. Sharia law is just the name that encompasses all of Islamic law. When Muslims need a document, they turn to the Quran. The law has been interpreted by Muslim scholars over time. Muslim people greatly respect Sharia law and wish to preserve its teachings. Sharia law has its own fully functioning justice system, with means to punish perpetrators of crimes and avenues of appeal, as well as providing guidelines on how to live an appropriate Muslim lifestyle. These practices may be old, even outdated, but they are highly respected and controversial around the world..
