Essay / Animal Farm, Unbalanced Leaders - 653
Animal Farm is a short book by George Orwell. The story of a farm invaded by animals to gain their freedom and produce for themselves. They create commandments to follow for their belief in animalism. The book is an allegorical reference to the Russian Revolution. Snowball is a pig in Animal Farm. He was exiled thanks to the work of the famous pig named Napoleon and his trained dogs. The other animals were convinced that Snowball was a bad pig and had a very evil plan to get close to Mr. Jones. But is Snowball really that evil? Did Napoleon distort the animal's thoughts? From the beginning, Snowball is an idealist, wants the good of all animals, and believes deeply in animalism. He would make the farm a much better place than Napoleon could have done. We will compare Snowball to Napoleon for each of Snowball's important qualities. Snowball is extremely idealistic. He wants the farm to achieve a perfect society. Humans are notorious for not producing anything important, which is why Snowball created his ideal life. He emotionally pushed the animals to perform well and get things done. When they took over the farm, they continued to work hard and regain their freedom. He was extremely kind, respectful and had a very good reputation with other animals. He dreamed of animals having the life they deserve. On the other hand, Napoleon was seen as a very demanding pig. He wanted to have what he felt he wanted. He liked to use dogs to impose his rules on the animals. He never wanted a good life for the animals as much as for himself. He wanted to run the farm and have everything humans had, like alcohol and beds. Before Mr. Jones was kicked off the farm, many animals believed that their "life in the middle of paper ......134) showed the rules changed by Napoleon. When Snowball left, Napoleon's corruption began. If Snowball were in charge, the animals would be able to retain what unites them. Napoleon is a leader who runs the farm out of fear and false security. He is not admired by animals (except Boxers). It destroys all their forms of pleasure and hope, and leaves them to work endlessly for seemingly pointless goals. While Snowball is a generally good pig, loyal to all animals and animality itself. He intends to make the farm extremely free and prosperous. It gives them reasons to work. I believe Snowball's qualities show signs of a much better leader. Animal Farm is a book about corruption and government. This shows how people act with too much power. Works Cited Orwell, George. Animal farm. New York, NY: Penguin Group, 1996. Print.
