THE EIFFEL TOWERThe Eiffel Tower was built for the 1889 Universal Exhibition and was to be demolished. So why is he still here today? The Eiffel Tower has an incredible history that will instantly draw you in. The History of the Eiffel Tower The Eiffel Tower is so incredible. Its construction is 1,063 feet tall in Paris and took 2 years, 2 months and 5 weeks to complete, which is an impressive amount of time for such a tall building. The Eiffel Tower is a building that is both solid and delicate. It was made from puddle iron and many rivets. (Rivets are a bit like large nails). It was once the tallest structure in the world, but many buildings have exceeded its height since its construction in 1887. The Eiffel Tower comes from four different legs which are held in the ground by numerous rivets. All feet meet in the middle and rise 984 feet to the summit. The Eiffel Tower has three different platforms at different heights. The middle platform is located just above where the feet meet. All platforms are accessible by stairs and elevators. The Eiffel Tower has been visited by more than 167 million people since its opening in 1889.
