Love and Hate Are the Same EmotionLove and hate are basically the feelings that people have towards each other throughout their lives. When a man develops feelings for a woman, it means he is experiencing love, but if the feeling of love fades, it means it is replaced by feelings of hatred, which indicates a lack of love towards others. Love and hate are not opposites because they substitute each other depending on the emotions people develop. Love and hate are a cycle of emotions that humans feel. They either develop feelings of love from hatred or feelings of hatred from love. There are several texts that show the similarities between love and hate, such as Daddy by Sylvia Plath, Othello by William Shakespeare, and This Be the Verse by Larkin. In the poem “Daddy” by Sylvia Plath, she shows how she overcomes the feeling of hatred. Love and Iago use love to deceive Othello into believing that Desdemona is deceiving him by saying, "Trust me, I'm afraid that's the case." I hope you will consider what is said Comes from my love. But I see that you are moved. I must ask you not to force my speech on questions more crude or on a broader scope than that of suspicion (1027). Othello shows his love turning into hatred towards Desdemona because of her reputation by stating, “All my affectionate love thus I breathe to heaven. Here we go. Rise up, black vengeance, from hollow hell! Abandon, O love, your crown and your throne of heart to tyrannical hatred (1034). Even though Othello wanted to kill Desdemona, he wanted her to die painlessly because he loved her as he stated, “One more, one more.” Be like this when you are dead and I will kill you and love you afterwards. One more, and it's the last (1061). Othello loved Desdemona so much that he hated her and killed her so she couldn't cheat on him.
