    Life as we knew it no longer exists. The world begins to disappear before the eyes of the beholder, life becomes precious and love is the only thing to hold on to. All of a sudden, a meteor crashes into the moon, causing massive floods, earthquakes, and explosive volcanic eruptions all over the world. Miranda, a teenager, and her family try to cope with a dire lack of supplies. The future seems bleak, but Miranda tries to remain hopeful as life as she knew it disappears. The meteor crashed into the moon spasmodically, but it left the world crumbling in its wake of destruction. The sun seems not to exist, because of the volcanic ash that has spread into the air. Fresh produce no longer exists and death comes suddenly for those too weak to continue. “I feel like this should be a dream and when I wake up none of this will have happened,” Miranda said. » » (Pg.27) As the world dwindles, Miranda dreams of her best friend Becky in heaven and the mounds of food around her.
