    INTRODUCTION Gathering three months' worth of the Wall Street Journal was a fairly simple task. Sitting down and reading articles every day was a different story. At first, finding articles illustrating leadership theories was a challenge. Once one has read the suggested articles, one has a better understanding of what is needed for the mission. After careful consideration and re-reading, one could see where leadership theories could relate to almost any topic. Understanding that leadership does not only exist in a company or an organization makes the mission much more interesting. There are many different types, styles, and theories of leadership that one will learn during training. For the purposes of this article, five theories were chosen. The five theories are: leading the way, inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act, challenging the process, and encouraging the heart. These theories highlight exemplary leadership in distinctive ways. Each theory is different but each allows a leader to chart a path to success. The Wall Street Journal provided an excellent sample of articles for each of the selected theories. The sample articles provided required a certain degree of critical thinking. Seeing leadership in a different light described by the sample articles helped break out of preconceived notions about leadership. By examining the parts of the document that had been brought to the attention of the class, we could bring together interesting and diverse articles that all illustrated a theory of leadership. Reading the required material and understanding the mission provided a different perspective on what leadership ...... middle of document ...... is about the importance of leadership. We see where leadership theories can go beyond established norms. Leadership is a valuable and versatile tool that can be used to promote growth and understanding in an individual and in an organization. It is in everyone's best interest to harness some form of leadership if they ever want to make a difference in their lives or in their organization. The healthcare industry is constantly evolving and leaders must be able to adapt accordingly. Using one of the five leadership theories mentioned above will allow a leader to ensure that their staff is working toward a unified future. Leading the way, inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act, challenging the process, and encouraging the heart are all effective theories of leadership. All of these theories can help leaders in any type of industry.
