Business globalization contributes greatly to making companies more competitive and increasing their share of profits. Globalization typically brings together employees or team members from different financial backgrounds, religions, cultures, and in some cases, sexual orientations. Companies should have knowledge of diversity and, where necessary, diversity programs in place to ensure equal treatment of all people. When companies treat diverse people equally, they can become more profitable. If everyone within the company does not adhere to diversity requirements or anti-discrimination laws, companies become vulnerable to discrimination lawsuits and a poor public image. Abercrombie & Fitch is currently a company facing diversity challenges. Abercrombie & Fitch, a clothing retailer, markets its brand to the teen and young adult market. Publicly traded under the symbol ANF, Abercrombie & Fitch had gross profits of $4.5 billion in 2012. Abercrombie & Fitch had gross profits of $4.15 billion in 2011. Store decor, aroma that fills the air inside the stores. and the sales staff appears strategically placed to entice teenage and young adult shoppers to come in and purchase their items. Their most popular items include their branded jeans and t-shirts with their “A&F” logo. Surveillance the hallways of any middle school, high school, or university campus will demonstrate the appeal of the Abercrombie & Fitch brand to their target market.
