Essay / The History of Marriages - 1316
When most people think of marriage, they usually think of two people who decided to take the next step in their relationship by promising to love and be faithful to each other to each other until death do them part. . It hasn't always been this way and from time to time you'll find the differences and similarities between marriages quite surprising. Back then, a wedding had nothing to do with the union of two people in love, but with the outcome of this union and the weather, you can benefit from it. In many cases, people now have the choice to marry who they want and run their marriage the way they want, which is a big change. If more people learn about the way marriages were handled back then, they will surely appreciate the great privilege they have to make their own decisions. Although here in the United States and other countries people are allowed to make their own decisions about how to manage their marriage, that is not the case in other countries and they have retained their traditions. In early BC, the upper class used marriages to bring the bride and groom's family more wealth and power and a marriage would have nothing to do with love or religion. Even women from the lower classes had no say in their marriages and were also arranged. Most marriages were arranged by the bride and groom's family. Women were usually married to someone from a neighboring tribe, they were married off at a very young age to someone usually a little older and if you weren't married you would be considered an outcast. Many people would marry to start a family so their children could help the family and have someone to take over their assets when they are no longer around and if a wife was not in the middle of paper. ......I was happy to learn the history of marriages and I also learned a lot from this project. After this, I think I will continue to find more information on this topic. Works Cited • Junkie, Soca. “Theme: The origin of marriage. » IslandMix RSS. Islandmix.com, March 31, 2004. Web.
