Essay / The Killing of an Albatross - 819
The beginning of all zombie films and the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, Samuel Taylor Coleridge writes about the birth of both subjects in his short story The Rime of the Ancient Mariner . The Rime of the Old Sailor is a story written in the Romantic generation. While Coleridge was writing this short story, as well as many other stories, Coleridge was under the influence of drugs. Whether under the influence or not, Coleridge wrote a story that will forever change the perspective of many stories. In the next text, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the mariner's lifelong penance deals with the burden of killing an albatross, and finally how the story affects the listener, and a lesson about human life ; deal with taking things for granted. First of all, in the story The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the storyteller tells the story of a man who did what he did not do, which was to kill an albatross . An albatross in this story was a bird representing the winds of the sea. Back then, to navigate the sea, ships needed wind to carry them with their sails. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner features parts of this story where something bad happens, causing a burden to one of the men aboard the ship. Due to the speaker shooting the Albatross, soon all of his comrades will die, leaving the Albatross he killed around his neck as a burden. Understanding this means that while he was killing this Albatross, the man was then cursed and stuck in the sea, slowly drifting into the polar ice waters and almost getting stuck, then all of a sudden, out of the blue, they get out of this dangerous place and settle in a deserted place where there are no currents to bring them ashore. According to the comrades on deck...... middle of paper ......wn. There is always someone who makes a mistake here and there, but they eventually learn from their mistakes. The famous words "I'm only human" fit this text very well because not only does the Mariner represent the civilization of modern times, but he represents the civilization of the last two decades. Throughout the text, Coleridge explains something much deeper. Even though he was a drug addict himself, he wrote something that would change the film and television industry forever. Creating a lifetime foundation for zombie TV shows, as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. According to the text, three things are represented in this short story: the sailor's penance throughout his life, the way the story affects the listener, and finally the lessons that the human might suggest in the story.
